utilization. This paper highlights the findings of prioritized
coastal wetlands at Ganjam District, Odisha. A total of 4070
ha wetlands account for coastal wetlands at Ganjam district
of which 39.9 % is saltpan, 26.9 % is back water and 17.4 %
is of waterlogged areas. The priority of wetlands was
evaluated in terms of (Conservation Priority Index) scoring
system, which has about 19 prescribed indicators under four
criteria. This paper highlights the detailed status of wetlands
in terms of conservation priority. Out of the nine sites, five
sites have conservation priority of which three sites, Prayagi,
Bahuda backwaters, Tampara Lake need immediate
conservation. This present study also recorded 79 species of
birds belonging to 19 families of avifauna diversity in and
around coastal wetlands of Ganjam and threats to the area.",
