- Abstract:
- Bangladesh, the disastrous country experiences Cyclone almost every year. It is the most common and destructive meteorological event. It is a tropical storm or tropical disturbance or atmospheric turbulence involving circular motion of winds [1,2]. It usually occurs during pre-monsoon period (March – May) and during post-monsoon (Oct-Nov). Some of them are turned into severe up to super cyclones. Cyclones are most hazardous events of many our socio-economic miseries, because its effects last long. It losses lives and properties which hampers the sustainable development of the country. Early warning is necessary for awareness and preparedness to combat natural disasters. D’Vorak Algorithm is very useful for tropical cyclone analysis .It helps in providing intensity and corresponding maximum sustained wind speed of the cyclone as well as the pressure around it. Cyclones are usually formed in the deep seas and hence their study is not so easy. Remote Sensing Technology provides valuable information about them and helpful for such conducts. Satellites, mainly the Meteorological satellites are the sources of information which allow the monitoring of such tropical cyclones. In this paper, observation on the characteristics of Cyclones formed in the Bay of Bengal as well as in the North Indian Ocean has been conducted through space based information .
